Songwriters Project and Writers Grove Alumni Receive 20th Annual Fred Ebb Award
Songwriting duo Cheeyang Ng and Eric Sorrels are set to receive the 20th Annual Fred Ebb Award! It will be presented to them on Monday, December 2nd at the Todd Haimes Theater in New York.
The Fred Ebb Award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist, recognizes excellence in musical theatre songwriting by a songwriter or songwriting team that has not yet achieved significant commercial success. The goal of this award program is to encourage and support aspiring songwriters to create new works for musical theatre, and as such the award includes a $60,000 prize.
Cheeyang and Eric have been working together since 2017. They both attended the 2019 Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project to work on their musical Maya, and they joined us at the 2022 Johnny Mercer Writers Grove at Goodspeed Musicals to work on their musical The Phoenix. We’re proud that others are recognizing their talent and supporting their projects!
