In 2009, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Johnny’s birth, The Johnny Mercer Foundation worked with Turner Classic Movies, Rhapsody Productions, executive producer Clint Eastwood and director Bruce Ricker to create this 100-minute documentary on the life and music of Johnny Mercer.
The film features footage of Johnny from throughout his career including appearances on The Merv Griffin Show and the BBC’s Parkinson as well as performances of his songs by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennettt, Audrey Hepburn, Nat King Cole and more. Plus, there are many new and archival interviews with friends, family and colleagues of Johnny such as Julie Andrews, Margaret Whiting, Tony Bennett, Jack Lemmon, Bing Crosby, Henry Mancini, Joe Harris, Johnny’s daughter Mandy Mercer and his wife Ginger Mercer.
